A guadelupian lawyer, she is the first woman who was called at the bar of Guadeloupe. When she turned to politics she was both elected locally and well known for her action in favour of the women of her country, and this until she died.
For improve the condition of women, she created in Guadeloupe a federation of the union of French Women which, thanks to commitees introduced in the communes, helps them to organize to obtain the enforcement of social security, pension for senior workers and the social promotion of guadelupian women.
She represented them at numerous international congresses and contributed actively to the transformation of the UUF federation into the Union of Guadelupian Women. She wrote to defend her convictions and signed articles in L'étincelle", "Cendrillon", La Guadeloupéenne" and "Madras". |
